SP Negroni

It's Negroni month and we have a range of amazing SPS recipes to enjoy this September. If you love Gin, you are in for a treat, whether it is with our Indian Spiced Gin, Orange Gin or classic London Dry Gin, there's options for everyone.

History Of Negroni

It's widely reported the first version of this drink's origin was invented at Caffe Casoni in Florence, Italy in 1919. Legend tells that Count Camillo Negroni asked his friend, bartender Forsco Scarselli, to strengthen his favourite cocktail – the Americano – by replacing the soda water with gin and we're glad he did!

We love Negroni and each one of these recipes all work on different occasions - Orange Gin is a great late afternoon or early evening drink. London Dry is great all day. The Indian Spiced works really well in the late evening.

The SP Negroni serves
The SP Negroni

The classic Negroni Serve.  Our Indian Spiced Negroni is amazing.  A traditionally made Negroni is stirred, not shaken, and built over ice in a rocks glass and garnished with a slice of orange. We have a few variations with our gin.
When making a Negroni with Sweet Potato Spirits you can choose to use whichever of our gins you prefer. All of them taste great and offer a unique flavour experience. The only problem is which one to make first!

What You Need: Rocks Glass, Ice (cubed), Orange peel garnish.
Ingredients:

Method: Add your choice of SPS Gin, Campari and Sweet Vermouth to a mixing glass filled with ice, and stir until well-chilled. Strain into a rocks glass filled with large ice cubes. Garnish with an orange peel.

Spagliato Serve
The SP Spagliato

Sbagliato - made with SPS Spiced Rum : Pronounced 'spal-yacht-oh' which in Italian means 'mistake', this drink was created in the late 1980s by Mirko Stocchetti at his Bar Basso in Milan - when making a Negroni he mistakenly reached for a bottle of Prosecco instead of gin, it created a cocktail that is far from a mistake, the only mistake is not to try it.

A bright and bubbly variation on the classic Negroni. This works really well with our SP Spiced Rum.

What You Need: Highball Glass, Cubed Ice, Orange wedge/Peel to Garnish
Ingredients:

Method: Add ingredients to tall glass and garnish with an orange wedge.

Additional Variations
Other versions of the Negroni we have tried, include using our SP Moonshine and whipped cream, this makes a great winter dessert. Our SP Chocolate Chilli Moonshine, add 10ml to our orange Gin and it gives it a kick. If you love Gin, there is also our SP Earl Grey, Lavender and Raspberry Gin, award winning flavours that are perfect for every occasion.
